One box, working constantly, not just when nobody’s there

One box per cabin, fitted at the distribution board. It measures every circuit all the time and controls the heaters, air conditioning, dehumidifiers, water boilers, lights and sockets, continuously, not only when the cabin is empty. Sometimes that means switching something off. More often it means running it later, in a different order, or for a shorter time. And we prove it in your own kWh.

Nobody is managing the energy in a welfare compound

Not because site teams don't care. Because the circuits are invisible, and there is nothing on site that knows whether a room is occupied.

Heaters run all night in empty rooms

The site office is occupied for part of the day and heated for all of it. Nobody is there to switch it off, and a thermostat has no idea whether anyone is in the room.

Heating and air conditioning fight each other

Two independent controls in one cabin, one calling for heat and one for cooling. Both run. Both appear on the bill, and neither shows up as a fault.

Drying rooms run all weekend, empty

A drying room draws more power than the site office next to it. It gets switched on and left. Nobody notices, because nobody can see the circuit.

These are the findings that come back from real boards, repeatedly. They are also why energy waste survives good intentions: none of it is visible from inside the cabin.

How it works, at the board

How the AutoMate unit intercepts and monitors circuits in a welfare cabin distribution board The incoming supply feeds the cabin distribution board. The AutoMate unit takes its own supply from a dedicated 6 amp MCB and contains four 25 amp double-pole contactors, each with a pre-fitted current transformer, CT1 to CT4. Both poles of a contactor control identical appliances in the same cabin and are never split across two rooms. Which circuit sits on which contactor depends on the cabin type. In a standard cabin the climate appliance, the water boiler, the sockets and the lights. In a drying room the heaters, the dehumidifiers, the fans and the sockets. Separately and never switched: critical always-on circuits including Wi-Fi and data comms, showers and life-safety, plus every other circuit in the board, each carrying its own additional CT. So every circuit is monitored even where it is not controlled. Only line conductors are intercepted; neutrals and earths are never switched and remain in the board unchanged. Which loads get switched depends on the cabin
In a standard cabin: the heater or the air conditioning, the water boiler, the sockets, the lights. In a drying room: the heaters, the dehumidifiers, the fans, the sockets. Where a cabin has both a heater and air conditioning they're separate circuits on separate contactors. Circuits routed through a contactor sit on a breaker of 25A or less. Critical circuits are never switched
Wi-Fi and data comms, showers, life-safety circuits, and anything else you designate as critical are CT-monitored only.
Every circuit is monitored, even where it isn't controlled
CT1 to CT4 sit on the contactors. Additional CTs go on every other circuit in the board. Your project manager sees the whole board, not just the parts we switch.
Only line conductors are intercepted
Neutrals and earths are never switched and stay in the distribution board unchanged. Power runs bus bar → MCB → contactor → load.
Installed by a qualified electrician
Tested to BS 7671, with a New Installation Certificate handed over on completion.
Then the rules do the work
Timers, occupancy, and peak shaving. Not a thermostat, and not somebody remembering.

How AutoMate works, circuit by circuit

We supply a box. We don't supply cabins.

You keep your existing cabin supplier, always.

Our preferred route is the one that costs you least effort: we ship our units to your cabin supplier, and they fit them during cabin setup. The cabin then arrives on site already fitted. Nothing to arrange, no install to schedule around your programme.

That's what we call a Gaia Enabled cabin, their cabin, our box in it. Lead time to a supplier is 10 working days from receipt of purchase order.

You don't need your supplier involved to start, though. On your first sites we install free ourselves, and we already ship boxes to a major plant hire firm who fit them at manufacture.

The guarantee, and what it costs

One guarantee, two limbs

We guarantee at least a 50% saving on the energy waste in the areas we control. And if our fees come to more than we've saved you across the project, we credit the difference, so you cannot end a project out of pocket.

Projects of six months or more. That's the only condition.

Assessed across the project and settled once at the end, not month by month. Savings are valued at your own electricity rate, agreed up front, and measured against your site's own benchmark.

Why we settle at the end

Savings peak in spring and autumn, not winter. Summer has little waste available to remove, and in winter the heating is genuinely needed. The same site read 37% across a summer (13 May to 31 July 2025) and 65% across a full year (13 May 2025 to 30 April 2026).

So an early report on a summer start will look thinner than the final position. Judging it month by month would penalise a project for the time of year it began.

We'd rather tell you that now than have you find it in month two.
